1. Center Pompidou
The Center Pompidou, located on right bank of River Seine in Paris, France, is one of three most important museums in Paris along with Louvre and Musee d'Orsay. The building is contrary to traditional model and is in style of post-modern art. It has been nicknamed “refinery in city center.” People can distinguish its hydroelectric exhaust elevator system by its color: blue is air conditioning exhaust system, yellow is power grid, green is plumbing, red is elevator . On top floor of art center there is an observation deck that offers a panoramic view of Paris, a view of Montmartre district and Basilica of Sacred Heart.
At end of January 1977, Pompidou Center was officially opened to public in Paris, works in its collection were first created in 1905. Since its inception, Pompidou Center has owned over 100,000 pieces of modern and contemporary art collections and is one of largest contemporary art collections in world; its collections cover plastic arts, painting, photography, new media, cinema, architecture and design and many other fields, including work of many famous artists such as Picasso, Duchamp, Matisse and so on. Like a harbor where artists gather, humanitarians and countless dreams gather here.

The name of art center dates back to late 1960s. In 1969, Pompidou succeeded Charles de Gaulle and became second president of French Fifth Republic. He is known for his enlightened cultural policy and during his tenure devoted himself to establishing a center for modern art and culture.
In 1971, 681 applicants for architectural design from 49 countries competed fiercely among themselves; finally, international jury accepted design of British Richard Rogers, Italian Junzo Pia, a scheme developed in collaboration with Renzo Piano and Gianfranco Franchini.
In 1974, President Pompidou died, and art center continued to be built, despite opposition and ridicule of Parisians; only in 1977, third year after Pompidou's death, was art center completed. In memory of this president, Cultural Center is named after President Pompidou.
