October 1, 2015, Paris, France, Palace of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles, located in city of Versailles, 15 km southwest of Paris, France, served French court for 107 years (1682-1789). This is a gem of French art. The building and decoration are very artistic, and now first floor has been turned into an art museum, as well as a place where French leaders meet with important foreign heads of state and envoys.
In 1660, after research and weighing, Louis XIV decided to buy 6.7 square kilometers of land based on hunting lodge of Louis XIII for construction of a new palace; in 1667 Le Notre designed gardens and fountains of Versailles. At same time, Le Vau built new palaces on western, northern, and southern sides of hunting palace to surround original hunting palace; in 1710, construction of entire Palace of Versailles and gardens was completed, and it immediately became largest, most majestic and magnificent palace in Europe. The most luxurious palace building, and soon became center of noble activity, center of art and birthplace of culture and fashion in France and Europe .
The Palace of Versailles is a classical style building. The façade is processed in a standard three-stage classical style, that is, façade is divided into vertical and horizontal sections, representing beauty. Its interior decoration is mainly in Baroque style, with several halls in Rococo style. It can be said that magnificent view of Palace of Versailles and strictly regular garden design are full of cultural classicism of heyday of French feudal domination, and this is nothing but a magnificent monument of French culture.
October 1, 2015 (local time) we, as a group of eight people, went to Palace of Versailles near Paris.
